This Isn't a Coverage Area. It's Where We Actually Are.

Our office sits at 1-4 Park Terrace, right here in Worcester Park. Not a satellite address, not a forwarding number that routes somewhere else. When you call us about a job in Worcester Park, you're calling people who could reasonably walk to your street.

My name's John Quilligan. Roofing has been in my family for three generations, and if there's one town on our entire patch we know better than any other, it's this one. Worcester Park itself has a history most residents have never heard, and it's a genuinely good one.

In 1538, Henry VIII took the manor of Cuddington to build Nonsuch Palace, one of the most extravagant royal residences ever constructed in England, and he laid out two hunting parks around it, a Little Park containing the palace itself, and a much larger Great Park to the west. In 1606, Edward Somerset, the 4th Earl of Worcester, was appointed Keeper of that Great Park.

His lodge became known as Worcester House, and by 1627 the whole area had taken on the name it still carries today. We're not working in some anonymous Surrey suburb. We're working in a town named after a royal official who managed a king's hunting ground.

John and his team came to realign my guttering. They were very efficient and professional. Did the job in one day, and cleared up after. I would recommend them to anyone wanting any work done. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Two Waves of Houses, Two Different Roofs

Worcester Park's residential streets weren't all built at once, and knowing which wave a property belongs to changes what we expect to find on the roof. The railway arrived in 1859, and the station, first called Old Malden before being renamed Worcester Park in 1862, sparked the first real wave of housebuilding: detached and semi-detached Victorian and Edwardian villas going up along the main roads through the late 19th and early 20th centuries, aimed at commuters wanting a home outside central London with a fast train to Waterloo.

A second, larger wave followed once the station itself was rebuilt in the 1930s to cope with growing demand. That rebuild reflects a genuine surge in housebuilding around the same period, standard inter-war semis filling in the streets further from the station, built to different standards and with different materials than the earlier villas.

This matters directly for roofing work. The earlier Victorian and Edwardian properties are more likely to have original slate or clay tile, older lead flashing, and chimneys built for coal fires that are no longer in everyday use. The 1930s semis typically have concrete tile as standard, and tile nibs from this era are a common source of slipped tiles once they've had ninety-odd years to go brittle. We check which generation of Worcester Park housing we're actually dealing with before recommending materials or a repair method, since assuming one era's approach on the other's roof is exactly how a repair ends up looking wrong or failing early.

One Town, Three Different Councils

Worcester Park is genuinely unusual in a practical sense: it sits across the boundary of three separate local authorities, the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, the London Borough of Sutton, and the Surrey borough of Epsom and Ewell. Depending on exactly which street you're on, planning permission, conservation area rules, and building control all run through a different council.

This isn't a technicality, it's something we actually check. Two houses a few streets apart, both in Worcester Park by any normal description, can fall under entirely different planning authorities with their own local rules on things like roof alterations, conservation area requirements, or permitted development limits. Assuming one set of rules applies across the whole town is exactly the kind of mistake that causes delays partway through a job, once someone realises the wrong council's guidance was followed.

We confirm which authority a property actually falls under as a standard part of the inspection, before recommending anything that might need permission, rather than assume Worcester Park is administratively one simple place. It isn't.

Roofing Questions We Get Asked in Worcester Park

Is your office genuinely in Worcester Park, or is that just a listed address? Genuinely here, 1-4 Park Terrace. This is where our team starts and ends the working day, not a virtual office or a forwarding address. If you're in Worcester Park, you're about as close to us as any customer gets.

How do I know if my property is one of the earlier Victorian villas or a later 1930s semi? Often visible in the roofline and materials, but not always obvious to someone who isn't looking for it. Earlier properties tend to have slate or clay tile and older lead flashing, while 1930s semis typically have concrete tile as standard. We identify this properly during the free inspection rather than guess from the street.

Does it matter which of the three councils my property falls under? Yes, for anything that might need planning permission, a loft conversion, a significant extension, or work on a listed or conservation-protected property. Kingston, Sutton, and Epsom and Ewell each have their own local rules, and we confirm which authority applies to your specific address before recommending anything that could need approval.

How quickly can you get someone out, given you're actually local? Often faster than elsewhere on our patch, since we're not driving in from further out. Same day is standard, and sometimes quicker still given the proximity.

Do you charge for the inspection? No. No call-out fee, ever, regardless of what the inspection finds.
